Sure, New Orleans is gorgeous to look at. But it also sounds terrific. Music is everywhere—from bluesy trumpet notes tumbling out of French Quarter jazz clubs, to the joyful noise of overlapping street bands and buskers, to bicyclists towing huge PA systems blaring hip-hop. Even the National Park Service gets in on the act, with ranger/pianists offering free talks/concerts covering the history of New Orleans jazz. As you explore, make sure you take time to slow down and listen up.
