Our highway map of Louisiana looks very different from our map of New Mexico. There’s an awful lot of watery blue, and icons we’d never seen before that apparently mean “if you step here, you may lose your shoe in the muck… and maybe a good chunk of your leg to a gator.” And you will definitely lose a few pints of blood to the mosquitoes.
