1. Burano

Tiny Burano is the caffe ristretto of Venice–distilling all the city’s exotic charm down into a tiny, intense shot. With just two canals, gorgeous pastel-colored houses, and a population of locals where the median age seems to be about 80, Murano comes right up to–but does not cross–the “too adorable” line. The sunny afternoon we spent here is a memory I expect to call on frequently during rainy winter days back home or particularly dismal meetings at work.
